MJ Johnson
M.J. is a passionate musician with over 30 years of experience in church music and the performing arts. Since 2016, she has been the Music Director at Forest Hill United Church, where she leads both the choir and church band, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere through music. Her love for blending contemporary and traditional styles has helped foster a spirited and inclusive musical community.
Outside of church, M.J. is a dedicated vocal coach and singer. She owns M.J. Johnson Voice Studio in Kitchener, where she teaches voice. M.J. has also taught at Sheridan College, Randolph Academy, and Wilfrid Laurier Conservatory. Her students have performed in theatres across Canada and the US, including Mirvish Productions and the Stratford Festival.
M.J.'s music direction credits include shows with Disney Cruise Line, Thousand Islands Playhouse, and Silver Mist Productions. As a keyboardist, she has performed in Wicked (Broadway Across Canada), Les Misérables (Drayton Entertainment), and Jersey Boys (Toronto).
With a passion for music and teaching, M.J. enjoys inspiring others and sharing her love of music with her community.
